Title: Towards seamless weather forecasting at MeteoSwiss
Abstract:
“Seamless forecasting” is emerging as a novel paradigm to operational weather forecasting. Often based on statistical learning, a seamless forecast integrates multiple sources of information to produce an improved and consolidated product for a wide range of applications. This seminar will explore MeteoSwiss ongoing efforts to achieve seamless forecasting by focusing on a selection of topics such as nowcasting, high-impact weather warnings, and the challenges and opportunities associated with open-source software and deep learning approaches. Our discussion will remain focus on applications, yet grounded in the latest research and best practices in the field.
