SSA SPACE WEATHER COORDINATION CENTER - SSCC

The SSA Space Weather Coordination Centre (SSCC), located at the Space Pole in Belgium, is the focal point for Space Weather end-user support within the frame of ESA Space Situational Awareness (SSA) Program. The SSCC has the overall responsibility for monitoring the continuity and quality of the products and data provided through the SSA Space Weather Service Network (http://swe.ssa.esa.int/) including the applications running in the SSA Space Weather Datacentre and the contents of the Space Weather Database. SSCC operators are supported by scientific experts grouped in internationally distributed Expert Service Centers (ESCs) that are focused on Solar Weather, Heliospheric Weather, Particle Space Radiation, Ionospheric Weather and Geomagnetic Conditions. In the approach to establish a close relationship with the end users of Space Weather services, the SSCC performs in collaboration with the ESCs test campaigns with direct involvement of the end-user to collect and understand their specific requirements and accordingly to develop Space Weather bulletins with suitable space weather forecast notifications for which products from the Service Network are gathered and tailored.

End-users are targeted in the domains of Spacecraft Design, Spacecraft Operation, Human Space Flight, Launch Operation, Transionospheric Radio Link, Space Surveillance & Tracking, Power Systems Operation, Airlines, Pipeline Operation, Auroral Tourism Sector and General Data Service.
