Thursday 8/11, 17:15-18:30
MTC 00.10, Large lecture room

The ESA SSA Space Weather Service Network is being developed to provide timely and high quality services to the Space Weather user community. The Network centres around the SSA Space Weather Coordination Centre, a dedicated data centre and five Expert Service Centres (Solar Weather, Heliospheric Weather, Space Radiation, Ionospheric Weather and Geomagnetic conditions), which together provide the user with access to a wealth of state-of-the-art products, tool kits and expertise, in the frame of focussed space weather services.

In September 2017 a week of enhanced space weather conditions, including multiple X-class flares and CMEs, were observed. In this meeting we will present the coverage of these events provided by the existing tools and products within the SSA Space Weather Service Network. We will also discuss the different channels used by the SSA SWE Service Network to disseminate information on the ongoing event including the implementation of an internal coordinated communication protocol, provision of user requested tailored space weather bulletins and dissemination via twitter. Additionally, we will discuss what these extreme events highlighted as possible areas for improvement within the Network: both what additional tools and data could improve the services provided as well as how the information is best conveyed and presented to the users during such high profile events.

All are welcome to participate.

Do not hesitate to also join our two other sessions: "ESA SSA SPACE WEATHER SERVICE NETWORK: SWE Portal Training session" will show you how to navigate through the SWE Portal if you are new to the SWE Service Network and "ESA SSA SPACE WEATHER SERVICE NETWORK: User Support Test Campaigns" will explain how tailored campaigns can be used to demonstrate the capabilities of the service network with bulletins tailored for YOUR specific mission needs!
