Space weather services may be built upon diverse data sources, models, and processing tools, all relying on underpinning IT/network infrastructure for their availability. Understanding and monitoring the performance of all those constituent elements is essential in order to provide services which can be utilised with confidence by the intended user communities.

This discussion meeting will focus on model and application validation in the context of space weather services. The meeting will discuss current best practice and how the scope and approach may evolve from validation of initial concept and input elements through time to continuous validation of a running service, and what steps/check-points this evolution may contain.

This meeting will include a number of best-practice highlight talks and will review current activities and initiatives, ongoing in Europe and internationally. We aim to promote discussion on validation and verification needs for the current generation of activities under development and in planning. Efforts targeting standardisation within European and International frameworks will be discussed. The goal of the meeting is to promote further vital development within this area.
